ECONOMETRIC METHODOLOGY AND ASPECTS OF SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT IN THE KHOREZM REGION

The study develops and applies an econometric methodology for analysing the sustainable
development of transportation in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. Sustainable transport is considered a
multidimensional outcome shaped by fiscal instruments, infrastructure capacity, public awareness, and
demographic pressures. Using multiple linear regression, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the chi-square test
of independence, the study assesses the direction and statistical significance of the relationships between four
policy-relevant covariates—government subsidies, infrastructure investment, public awareness campaigns, and
the urbanisation rate—and two sustainability outcomes: the adoption rate of energy-efficient vehicles (EEVs)
and emission reduction. Data are obtained from the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics
and published reports of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Bank, and the Asian Development
Bank; illustrative regional estimates are used where disaggregated regional data are not publicly available. The
results indicate that government subsidies and infrastructure investment are statistically significant predictors of
EEV adoption and that the presence of relevant policies is significantly associated with adoption levels. Based
on these findings, an evidence-based sequence of transport policy interventions is proposed for the Khorezm
region.
