Poverty is an individual problem and can cause a number of social, physical and psychological problems such as personal or household solvency. On the social level, the high level of the poverty layer may hinder the country's economic growth and increase unemployment and crime. For this reason, developing countries often implement effective social welfare programs to help lift individuals, families, and communities out of poverty.
